Kaori Uemura, viola da gamba
Born in Japan, she began playing the violin at the age of 3 years and began the viola da Gamba at age of 12, with the pioneer of this instrument in Japan, Toshinari Ohashi. After graduating Ueno Gakuen Music University in Tokyo, she moved to Brussels and studied with Wieland Kuijken.
She then settled in Belgium and became one of the most demanded gambists in Europe, playing and recording regularly in chamber music with among others Les Talens Lyriques, Les Arts Florissants, Gli Angeli Genève, Dutch Bach Society, and Ricercar Consort.
She is regularly invited as a soloist by the Orchestra of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
Recently she was coached the way of being and playing by Michèle Massina.
